Developing Your Italian Language Skills (part 3)
This course will enable you to develop language skills in particular oral, listening and speaking, but also reading and writing. This will equip you with the confidence and appropriate knowledge to communicate in basic/intermediate Italian and understand what people say in a variety of situations.

This is an ongoing course aimed at people who have a basic understanding of the Italian Language but keen to develop it further. The course will focus on oral, listening and speaking, but also reading and writing, so that the student will be able to communicate effectively. Each term will cover a different topic designed to broaden the learner's understanding of Italian society, culture and lifestyle. New students will be made very welcome!
To provide more advanced knowledge of the Italian language and culture.
Who is the course for?
The course follows the beginner course and is for intermediate learners (ILP provided for new students)
What topics will this course cover
Increase the complexity of structures and functions introduced in the first two terms Parts of the body Saying how you are feeling and Describing symptoms At the chemist's Arranging an appointment with the doctor/hospital Following a recipe and commenting on a meal Understand simple passages and written material in Italian
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
Improve Italian listening and speakig skills in the context of saying how you are feeling and list simple symptoms To be able to explain what hurts when you're in pain Improve Italian listening and speakig skills in the context of following straightforward instructions from a doctor or chemist To be able to follow an Italian recipe Improve Italian listening and speakig skills in the context of commenting on a meal, expressing praise
How will I know I'm making progress?
You will receive feedback on both speaking and writing activities, developing from informal observations whilst you are working during the lesson to group target assessments.
