Yoga for All

This safe and effective yoga class will include easy movement, stretching and breathing. Suitable for everyone, including complete beginners. Students are encouraged to come along and experience how yoga can help relax and improve a sense of wellbeing.

Course aim

This course aims to encourage students to gain knowledge and experience of effective techniques for gentle exercise and relaxation in an enjoyable, fun and safe environment.

Who is the course for?

Suitable for all levels and abilities.

What topics will this course cover

Relaxation techniques and practice, breath techniques and practice, moving meditations, being in your body, etc.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. Demonstrate a breath practice for focus 2. Demonstrate a breath practice for balance and relaxation 3. Move my body with awareness 4. Practice a short sequence of breath and/or movement at home

How will I know I'm making progress?

Observation, personal feedback and question and answer sessions.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

Mats and blocks provided. Students must wear loose and comfortable clothing.
