Computing & ICT for the Community Tues 14.15
If you would like to learn about computers join our informal and friendly class. This course is suitable for complete beginners, you will be working at your own pace towards achieving a WEA certificate in a variety of IT based subjects e.g. word processing, spreadsheets, database, internet and emails. We have designed a modular system with exercises, workbooks etc. On completion of each module and test paper you can progress onto the next one. All students have one to one help at all stages from our excellent tutor. Advice and guidance on your own laptop/computer is also available as part of the course

The course will cover four main areas Windows, Microsoft Office Applications, the Internet and its uses, and email. This course will give you all the skills you need to use a computer and its applications in a relaxed and friendly environment enabling the student to gain confidence in using a computer at home/workplace.

What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
Each Student will have an individual learning plan.
How will I know I'm making progress?
The work will be assessed against set criteria for each learning outcome. When each level has been completed you will be awarded a certificate.

What could the course lead to?
Progression will be through the WEA modules stated above. Once these modules have been completed progress onto CFE or Online courses will be identified to meet the needs of the individual.
