Theatre Skills - Summer term
This course is open to all adults with learning disabilities whatever your age skill or ability .Students will learn about all aspects of creating theatre . .Students will experience working a supportive team . Drama is an excellent medium for promoting confidence and social skills students will work in a safe and fun environment. Students work towards creating an original piece of drama .
Students learn about all aspects of Theatre craft .Students will experience working as a team and supporting each other .Students will work towards creating and showing an original piece of work . Students will explore through drama themes that are relevant to their lives as adults with learning disabilities.

What topics will this course cover
Students will be exploring what life could be like in the future . We will look at the rise of technology in our lives and its effect . We will create an original piece of work learning about all aspects of creating a piece of drama . Students will work together as a whole group and in smaller groups students will have opportunities to lead and support each other thus enhancing their confidence and self esteem . We hope to have a piece of work to share with the wider community .
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
1. Students gain an understanding of how technology affects our lives 2.Students work together to create an original dramatic narrative 3.All students have the opportunity to experience leading the whole group and /or a small group .
How will I know I'm making progress?
Students are set group and individual outcomes at the beginning of term . Students are regularly reminded of these and how they relate to the session . Students are given feedback throughout sessions and at the end of each session we ask what have we learnt and how we can use it in Drama and also in our daily lives . Students are reviewed individually mid term and again at the end of term .
What else do I need to know, do or bring?
All resources supplied . It is recommended that students wear loose comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear . Students are asked to bring 20p each week to cover the cost of tea coffee and biscuits .
