This course is open to all adults with learning disabilities whatever your age skill or ability .Students will learn about all aspects of creating theatre . .Students will experience working a supportive team . Drama is an excellent medium for promoting confidence and social skills students will work in a safe and fun environment. Students work toards creating an original piece of drama .

Who is the course for?

This course is for adults with learning difficulties

What topics will this course cover

Students will develop an original piece of work to perform for others this will incorporate original songs and dances . Students will explore creating a narrative and gain an understanding of how we can tell a story dramatically . Students will explore themes that relate to their own lives giving them opportunities to explore their community and share their ideas with the wider community

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1.Work together to create a dramatic narrative . 2Work together to write an original song for performance 3 Be confident in speaking up about their loan lives and others with learning disabilities .

How will I know I'm making progress?

Students are set group and individual outcomes at the beginning of term . Students are regularly reminded of these and how they relate to the session . Students are given feedback throughout sessions and at the end of each session we ask what have we learnt and how we can use it in Drama and also in our daily lives . students are reviewed individually mid term and again at the end of term .

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

All resources supplied . It is recommended that students wear loose comfortable clothing and appropriate footwear . Students are asked to bring 20p each week to cover the cost of tea coffee and biscuits .
