Introduction to Complementary Therapy
If you are looking for some inspiration and would like to experience something a little different that may well lead on to more training you have come to the right place. This seven week course will take you through the fascinating art of Complementary Therapy to include aromatherapy, reflexology, fully clothed massage and Indian head massage. We will be covering theoretical and practical elements of each area in a relaxed, safe environment. Join the many people who have realised how these fascinating therapies can complement your life.

What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
1. Locate three reflex points on the hands or feet 2. Demonstrate correct thumb walking technique used in reflexology by using safe working practice 3. State one aftercare advice when undergoing a complementary therapy treatment 4. Discuss personal experience of how learning may impact on personal health during the course 5. Identify favourite essential oils and list at least one property 6. Stretch and challenge – be able to demonstrate at least three massage techniques used during either Indian Head Massage or fully clothed massage
How will I know I'm making progress?
Your tutor will give you regular feedback on your progress. Questions & answers are encouraged at all times.
What else do I need to know, do or bring?
Please wear comfortable clothes. Students will be asked to make a small contribution towards the cost of materials.

There is not a recommended reading list however your tutor can advise participants on reading material.
What could the course lead to?
This course may lead on to further short courses with the WEA or may inspire individuals to progress on to Further Education and completing fully accredited courses.
