Jewellery Making: Mixed Media
If you're big on the reduce, reuse, recycle craze and love making jewellery then this is the course for you. You will learn how to design and make beautiful and unusual jewellery out of recycled and new materials.
To be able to design and produce beautiful jewellery using recycled and new materials. The jewellery can then be either for yourself, a gift or for profit.

Anyone interested in jewellery making.
What topics will this course cover
How to use different new and recycled materials together. How to prepare recycled materials for jewellery making. How to design a piece of jewellery from scratch To gain inspiration from jewellery designers and other sources. To produce examples showing different techniques in jewellery making. To produce a piece(s) of jewellery using recycled materials.
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
Make a series of samples to show the understanding of new techniques Expand on ideas using mixed media and combining different techniques Design and produce a final piece of work that shows their understanding of the task

Sketch book and pencil. Recycled items for jewelery making for example sea glass, tin cans, plastic cups, washers, yarn
Reading and information sources
Books and magazines will be provided for reference

Use skills learned as a basis to make jewellery for profit.
