This course will enable learners to develop drawing, painting and mixed media skills and build creative thinking
Who is the course for?
What topics will this course cover
This course will cover basic drawing and painting skills, learning about line, tone, texture and colour in a range of media. Topics will include still life.
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
1. Develop drawing skills with observational and imaginative tasks 2. Develop painting skills including brushwork and colour mixing 3. Develop use of mixed media 4. Develop personal creativity
How will I know I'm making progress?
Verbal feedback will be given during the class session. There will be group critiques in a friendly supportive atmosphere.
What else do I need to know, do or bring?
A3 cartridge pad, pastel paper, watercolour paper, pencils, pastels, watercolours and brushes.
Reading and information sources
Learners should keep up with current art exhibitions in public and private galleries
What could the course lead to?
Learners may wish to progress to an improvers course.
