Decorative papers in Library and Archive Book bindings

Ref: C3124921

Over centuries, coloured decoration on book edges, endpapers and books developed from simple solid colours and speckles, into quite an art form. Using archive examples from HARC, the history, methods and materials used in the thriving paper marbling industry of the 17th-19th centuries will be explored. Led by Liz Bowerman, Senior Conservator
