Acrylic and Watercolour Landscapes
The tutor will demonstrate various aspects of the painted landscape – covering areas such as skies, trees, water, etc. With development of tone, form and colour mixing. With 1 to 1 tuition from the tutor the learners can build up their own version of the landscape. The mediums used will be Acrylic and Watercolour.
To provide an introduction to the pricipals and techniques of landscape painting, to improve the learners understanding of colour mixing and brush handling and to practice the elements and variations of landscape painting.
Who is the course for?
The course is open to everyone over 19 and who has this 'spark' in their heart, a 'desire' to paint.
What topics will this course cover
Course topics : How to paint Skies, Distance, Foreground, Trees, Water, Creating Depth, Creating Form. The world around you that you see.
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
1 Produce a pencil/charcoal sketch 2 Create form- use of colour to create at least 4 shapes 3 Create depth- Distance, middle, foreground.
How will I know I'm making progress?
Your work will be informally assessed as the tutor visits each learner on a one to one basis. Giving you feedback on your progress, giving suggestions and answering questions. Formally assessed via the Individual Learning Plan
What else do I need to know, do or bring?
A basic amount of acrylic/watercolour painting materials are required. A list of materials will be available to the student on the first session
Reading and information sources
There is no reading that is essential but it will help to read art books as it will further your ability.
What could the course lead to?
The tutor says ''Enrolling onto an 11 week course will help kindle that 'spark' inside so that at the end you will look at the world around you differently.'' Possible progression on to joining art groups and societies across the region and short courses with WEA and/or other service providers.
