Iyengar Yoga for Beginners & Improvers
A wide and varied range of yoga techniques will be explored and practiced to stretch, relax and improve overall health and well being. You will discover how yoga can help improve not just your flexibility, but also bring about a sense of calm through the practice of the breathing techniques. Yoga will also aid your ability to cope with the stresses and strains of everyday life.

Who is the course for?
What topics will this course cover
We will cover a wide range of yoga poses, breathing and relaxation techniques to both quieten the mind and bring clarity, as well as to soothe the nerves and improve flexibility and stamina. Posture work will be adapted to suit individual needs. We will look at poses to strengthen the joints, aid mobility and improve posture as well as to bring about a sense of well being
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
1. Demonstrate a wide range of poses within your capacity 2. Show alignment and stability in poses 3. Perform supine and seated pranayama
How will I know I'm making progress?
Assessment will be informal and will be mainly visual of alignment and steadiness. Feedback will be given every session on how to adapt the poses to suit your individual needs to enable you to progress. Assistance will be given to help you achieve the yogic techniques both physically and verbally so that you can work with self awareness and progress at your level and pace
What else do I need to know, do or bring?
Yoga mat, car rug or small fleece blanket and a bely. Wear loose clothing

What could the course lead to?
Teach training after three years if eligible, you will also progress to understand more of the subtle yoga techniques and should be able to use your skills at home for self help
