Students will be able to start from the beginning (switching on/off, keyboard skills and computer jargon) and the more confident students learn how to use the internet safely and later an introduction to email

Course aim

This course will introduce students in using a computer, using the internet and using emails

Who is the course for?

What topics will this course cover

Becoming confident in using a computer and awareness of keeping information safe, shows future employers what computer skills you have. Computer health and safety, Keyboard and mouse skills (if Required) Computer Jargon, relating to, basic computers, internet and email Introduction to navigating the internet Staying safe while online

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1.Minimise the physical stress of seating, lighting and hazards 2.Keep access information secure by using password 3.Recoginse and use interface features (menus, Icons, option buttons) 4.Enter and edit single items of information 5.Find given information from an ICT based source 6. Use ICT based communications

How will I know I'm making progress?

Reviewing the learning on a regular basis, verbal feedback, ILP's (individual learning plan) and completion of tasks/activities

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

Bring with you a reasonable sized notepad and pen. You will need to purchase a memory pen (no more than £5) to be able to save your work to. And a good sense of humor helps
