Through Drama Production, learners have the opportunity to be creative and experience inspiration and enjoyment. Creating, designing and exploring all aspects of stage managment. Improving confidence, communication skills, organisation skills. Learners will have the opportunity to work together as a stage crew to stage manage a live production.

Course aim

Develop a knowledge and understanding of theatre production. To develop competence in communication and organisational skills through participation and exploration of stage management. To examine self and others through participation and reflection of dramatic experience. To build an appreciation for stage management and theatre as a process art form.

Who is the course for?

This course is for Women only. Students on this course must pre-register with WHIST before attending the course.

What topics will this course cover

Theatre roles and reponsablities , Communication skills, Organisational skills Time management , Prop making & crafts, sewing. Advertising & promotion.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. To develop and knowledge and understand-standing of theatre production 2. Plan, design a create a character costumes. 3. Formulate and Construct a character prop with unwanted materials. 4. Organise and manage stage crew job roles to support a live stage production

How will I know I'm making progress?

There will be no formal assesment as such but there will be feedback from the tutor both from an individual and group perspective. The students will be encouraged to review progress with me as the tutor and as a group through peer assessment.. Formal feedback via the individual learning plan.

What could the course lead to?

Futher courses with WEA and/or other service providers i.e. Advanced or accredited courses. Join other local community groups interested in performing arts.
