Course aim

The aim of the course is to encourage learners to become confident in using Windows 10 and to familiarise themselves with many of the features that enable Windows 10 to work.

Who is the course for?

What topics will this course cover

Please refer to Course Description. As Windows 10 becomes the operating system more widely used both professionally and in the home, this course will give learners the confidence to apply the skills learned in either a work or domestic situation.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. Implement Health and Safety requirements for Windows 10. 2. Manage files and folders within Windows 10. 3. Explore everyday apps within Windows 10 including Multiple Desktops. 4. Explore Microsoft Edge using Windows 10. 5. Explore basic photo editing within Windows 10.

How will I know I'm making progress?

An individual learning record is completed each week and an individual learning plan is completed at the beginning and end of the course. Learners receive verbal as well as written feedback.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

Learners can use their own laptops that have Windows 10 as an operating system. The WEA will provide laptops with Windows 10 operating system for anyone who does not own a Windows 10 laptop.

None required.

What could the course lead to?

To enable the learner to use their Windows 10 laptop/computer with confidence and enjoy using Windows 10 as an Operating System. Progression into further learning to develop IT skills and undertake qualifications to improve employment prospects or general understanding of computers. Information regarding progression opportunities will be provided by the tutor by the end of the course.
