This is a progression for those thinking of sharpening their skills for returning to work or moving on to community living or take college courses. The course will offer basic skills in internet job searches, cv making, interview tips, requirements for basic job roles and online form filling

Course aim

To provide skills for getting into work or further learning

Who is the course for?

Students must have basic ICT skills and at least Entry 1 English.

What topics will this course cover

• Searches for job interview techniques and role play • CV draft and production • Online searches and form filling • Internet searches for job specifications • Online job agency registration

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. Identify one dream job and its job specifications and match it to their skills 2. State five important interview techniques 3. Produce a CV 4. Demonstrate online form filling, job searches 5. Identify effective sources for job searches and register with chosen recruitment agencies

How will I know I'm making progress?

The tutor will provide information on progress and suggest your next steps with WEA or other local agencies. The course organisers / tutor will provide information on your achievements.

Students need to bring their own writing materials

Visit websites for information on employability

What could the course lead to?

Learners can use the skills for meaningful job searches. They can also use IT skills in workplace, further learning and community involvement activities.
