Victorian Wands and Lavender Hearts
The Victorians used lavender to scent their homes and linens: A fun and informal session where you will meet others, learn how to make your own heart, fill it will dried lavender and decorate it with ribbon and stitching. We will also weave lavender wands using fresh lavender and ribbon. You will take home at least one of each item.
On this course you will learn about the use of lavender in the Victorian/Edwardian household. We will make lavender bags with dried lavender and weave Lavender wands with fresh lavender.
Who is the course for?
What topics will this course cover
Lavender Heart/sachet: Choose and cut out fabric chosen from a selection provided by the tutor. After sewing your sachet together by either hand or machine, fill it with dried lavender and add embellishments such as ribbon, buttons and stitches. Lavender wand: Tie fresh lavender with ribbon and start to weave a cage to encapsulate the fragrant flowers for your wand. It looks complicated but great fun once you get the hang of it! There will be hand outs and samples for inspiration on the day - support and advice will be given by the tutor.
