Learners can choose to complete a wide range of different units learning valuable new skills or improving their existing IT skills. A course completion certificate can be provided if requested.

Course aim

This course is aimed at learners who would like to learn new IT skills or improve existing skills covering word processing, spread sheets, desktop publishing, databases, presentations and file management.

Who is the course for?

What topics will this course cover

Learners complete a range of IT skills and tasks/exercises on Windows® and Microsoft® Office software and can choose from the following subjects: • Word processing software and file management • Spreadsheets software • Database software • Presentation software • Desktop publishing Software.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. Word processing software and file management 2. Spreadsheets software 3. Database software 4. Presentation software 5. Desktop publishing Software

How will I know I'm making progress?

Initial/on-going assessment and start of course questionnaire to evaluate knowledge. Learners can study at their own pace and tutor feedback is provided on skills and exercises/tasks completed during the lessons.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

Notebook and pen.

Reading and information sources

Course hand-outs / exercises are provided.

What could the course lead to?

Students may like to progress further by completing other units after this course.
