Creative Writing Advanced
A general course for writers wishing to increase their experience and challenge themselves a little more. The course will include regular writing sessions across a variety of disciplines and will continue to improve writing through learning the craft and feeding back to others in the group. Learners will be making their writing goals clear and working towards some targets they will set at the start of the course.

A course to stretch learners with some experience. This enjoyable and energetic class enables learners to write each week with a combination of exercises in class and assignments set for doing at home.
Who is the course for?
What topics will this course cover
Writing exercises - weekly in class and assignments set for working on at home. Sharing work in class and giving feedback Making decisions about individual writing goals across the term and working towards them. Topics covered will include poetry, fiction and life writing.
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
1. Demonstrate having taken part in a variety of writing exercises in class 2. Show they have worked on assignments at home to bring to class 3. Show they have tried writing in a variety of styles and disciplines eg prose, poetry 4. Feel increased confidence in giving feedback on work shared in the group. 5. Have worked towards individual writing goals.
How will I know I'm making progress?
Students will receive ongoing encouragement and feedback both from the tutor and peers. Individual goals will be explored at the beginning of the course and we will check up on progress as we go along. Students will be encouraged to reflect on their own development and learning.

There is possible progression from the course onto other writing courses, for example UoL Certificate in Creative Writing
