More Ukulele for beginners

Playing the ukulele is great fun and we'll be building on our skills and playing and singing popular tunes. We'll cover further basic chords and play and sing together. Bring your own ukulele if you have one. Ukuleles are available to use in class.

Course aim

We will continue learning the basics of playing the ukulele. Learning a further 7 or 8 chords, playing more complex songs and singing together.

Who is the course for?

The course is for students who have completed the beginners ukulele course or who have a basic grasp of playing 10 chars on the ukulele and some confidence with playing from song sheets.

What topics will this course cover

Holding and strumming - recap Tuning - recap Playing chords. Playing from songsheets. Singing and playing together.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. Hold and strum a ukulele correctly. 2. Tune a ukulele. 3. Play 14 - 18 chords 4. Play songs from songsheets. 5. Feel more confident playing and singing as a group.

How will I know I'm making progress?

Ongoing weekly feedback from tutor as to progress. Ability to play chords and songs. Students will be encouraged to reflect on their learning.
