Who is the course for?
What topics will this course cover
Beginners will cover sketching, watercolour techniques, colour mixing and how to apply it all in context. Improvers will learn new techniques and build on their existing skills by applying them to different set subjects eg Landscapes - leaving light. We will refer to and look at the work of other artists.
What will it be like?
WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
1. mix and use colour creatively 2. use watercolour in different ways 3. sketch and draw out your subject in order to paint it 4. evaluate your progress by critiquing your own work
How will I know I'm making progress?
You will be given weekly verbal feedback during each session. Through discussion and demonstration you will be guided and shown how to improve or change what you have done or be given advice about how to go about it next time.
What else do I need to know, do or bring?
You will need to bring your own materials and equipment to each session along with items or photographs to paint. The tutor will provide the office with a materials list before the start of the course or you can wait until the first session and discuss with the tutor what you will need.
