See something you want? See something you need? This course will show you what can be achieved by shopping around online, you could bag a really good deal. We will also show you what to look out for, is paying a subscription for 'Free' delivery a good idea? What about rogue web sites and safe payment methods?

Course aim

The session aims to help you identify some of the positive elements for online shopping and some of the pitfalls, where to go to get that bargain and how to avoid a scam.

Who is the course for?

What topics will this course cover

Identify different Comparison web sites Recognise different websites and what you can get for Free, and how not to fall for a scam of paying for something IE EHIC Cards Select different websites all selling the same item and compare them to each other. Discuss different web sites you may have used in the past Shop around and not gravitate to the same web sites for ease

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. Identify different Comparison web sites 2. Describe different websites and what you can get for free, 3. Identify ways to avoid falling for for a scam 4. Select different websites all selling the same item and compare them to each other. 5. Define which websites you prefer

How will I know I'm making progress?

This course does not lead to a formal qualification. Your increased confidence in finding good websites with information and prices on will demonstrate your progress There will be plenty of opportunity for you to discuss progress with other participants and your tutor and the Learning Record will ask you to comment on how far you feel have progressed. n addition, your tutor will give you support and feedback. As many of the tasks are practical it will be easy to see your own progress as well.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

If you own your own laptop or tablet, please bring them with you, and let us know at the time of booking. We have a limited number of laptops that can be borrowed for the session. Note pad and pen for making personal notes
