Course aim

Students to produce and employee friendly C.V. with an updated and relevant personal statement. To feel more confident in a interview situation understanding the benefits of research,protocol and etiquette when preparing for a job interview, face to face, by phone or video link.

Who is the course for?

Anyone interested in improving their employability skills or returning to work

What topics will this course cover

C.V. updating, preparing a new C.V., writing a personal statement and invitation to apply for a position. Interview techniques whether face to face, by phone or video link. How to research for preparation for an interview. How to build on your current skills.

What will it be like?

WEA classes are friendly and supportive. You will be encouraged to work together with your fellow students and tutor. You will be asked to share your ideas and views in the class and work with the group to give and accept feedback in a supportive environment. The WEA tutor will use a range of different teaching and learning methods and encourage you to be actively involved in your learning. You may be asked to undertake work to support your course outside of your class.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

1. Prepare and write a C.V. 2. Prepare a personal statement 3. Use the computer to research potential employees. 4. Describe how you would prepare when attending an interview. 5. Plan your next steps

How will I know I'm making progress?

By encouraging them to update and understand the skills that they currently use in life situations and how they can relate to job skills. Discussion and feedback on role play with the group environment.

What else do I need to know, do or bring?

Copy of current C.V. and memory stick, storage facility.
