Sewing Skills for Self Employment

For students wishing to improve their skills, motivation and confidence in Textiles and learn how to create soft items for sale and or repair and refurbish to progress towards self-employment opportunities

Course aim

Students will gain knowledge and skills in Sewing, communicating, understanding self-employment, motivation to move forward, raising aspirations, confidence to achieve goals in a competitive environment, discipline and organisational skills.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Learn basics of hand sewing, making various items using hand sewing techniques such as Teddy Bear Pin Cushion
  • Understand Sewing Machine Introduction and Organise sewing
  • Compare prices using social media
  • How to use a Sewing Machine to create a self-employment opportunity
  • How to price and value items effectively by using marketing techniques
