For more information and to book an appointment please call 0300 303 3464. Using everyday situations, we will practice giving short explanations and descriptions in a range of tenses. We will look at when and where formal language is needed in some common situations (e.g. work, education). We will practice ways to listen for and identify new and relevant information in a range of instructions, discussions and presentations. We will also look at how body language, facial expressions, and gestures can help explain how we feel, and help us understand how others feel, too.
Course aim
This course will help you to feel more confident speaking and listening everyday English, with lots of practice using real life situations. This course leads to a City & Guilds Entry 3 Speaking and Listening qualification..
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Ask and answer questions in familiar and new situations.
- Take part in a discussion: give my opinion clearly, allow others to join in fairly, and make relevant responses to others’ contributions.
- Use the present perfect tense and “used to” to talk about past experiences and actions.
- Listen for and identify detailed information in a discussion, explanation or presentation.
- Give a short factual presentation or description, using appropriate tenses.
