You will practise using different reading strategies to obtain information from a wide range of texts, such as leaflets, letters, emails,, websites and articles and will learn about the different formats and purposes of texts.
Course aim
This course will help you to develop your confidence and skills in reading in English at Level 1. It will help you get ready to move onto a City & Guilds ESOL Level 1 Reading accredited course in future
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Identify the main points and specific details from a wide range of different texts
- Use your knowledge of the context to work out the meaning of unknown words
- Use text features, such as paragraphs, headings, bullet points and images, to help you quickly find information in texts
- Identify the different purposes of texts
- Use reference materials to find information

- What you need: You will need an internet connection, speakers, a microphone and a webcam so that you can use our video learning platform, Zoom.
