Aimed primarily at people with a hearing loss. Groups are held in a supportive, caring environment with like minded people. The course helps to supplement residual hearing by using other skills and strategies, enabling you to get more out of conversations and interaction with others

Course aim
Acquire lip-reading skills, strategies, get more out of conversations in everyday situations. Understand the individual effects of hearing loss find personal strategies to improve communication skills, increase confidence.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Lip read and finger spell more confidently and be able to explain to others how good communication tactics will help them to understand and participate continuing from the previous sessions.
- Demonstrate the confidence to ask others to modify their speech in helpful ways to enable them to join in with less difficulty than before.
- Identify and explain about environmental aids and know how and where to obtain these, including any recently released technology.
- Improve relationships with friends and family with greater understanding and communication.
- Note – developments will take place within each outcome each term depending on ability level.
