This course is suitable for those students who would like to build confidence; write a CV; complete job application forms; improve interview, customer service and workplace skills including answering interview questions and search for jobs. These skills will help you in your career path and improve your job prospects and personal development. Although there is no examination, your work will be marked and assessed throughout the course with verbal and written feedback. This is a live online course via Zoom and use of the Student Canvas App.

Course aim

To develop knowledge and skills in writing CVs, job applications and cover letters, interviews,customer service and workplace skills and job search to help students to gain employment, confidence and use these skills independently.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • By the end of the course, I will be able to demonstrate my knowledge and skills in writing and planning a CV by completing a questionnaire correctly to help me in applying for jobs.
  • By the end of the course I will be able to compose a cover letter email for a job application using an appropriate structure and layout to demonstrate my presentation and writing skills.
  • By the end of the course, I will be able to demonstrate my interview skills by completing a quiz correctly to enable me to prepare and present myself professionally in an interview.
  • By the end of the course, I will be able to develop communication skills in answering interview questions by completing sample interview questions to demonstrate my knowledge and understanding.

Please have a pad and a pen in order to take notes Please note down the dates of all of your education, previous work/ volunteer experience to produce a CV. Don't worry if you have been out of work - you will be able to record transferable skills from your life - eg parenting or caring
