This short course will unravel the issues behind the scenes of publishing translated literature. Why the UK has historically had a very low percentage of novels written in other languages filling the shelves of a bookstore? What can we learn from a piece of writing coming from a different country and a culture? What are the last titles capturing the British imaginary? And why some translated authors are more successful than others?
