Whether you are a beginner or have some experience, this course will offer you a great introduction to Abstract Art. With guidance and support, you will be creating art from the very first session. You will learn how to mix colours from a limited palette and how to create texture in a painting. We will cover, design and the various tools and techniques that can be used to make a work of art. We will take inspiration from 20th century Abstract Artists and through play and experimentation, look at developing our own individual style. You will receive lots of support and encouragement in this friendly course.
Course aim
To provide an introduction to various techniques and styles used in creating abstract art. To create colourful abstract artworks in a relaxed and supportive environment.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Use various mark making tools to create shapes and patterns.
- Mix primary colours to create secondary and tertiary colours.
- From experimenting with shapes and marks, create colourful abstract paintings.
- Create artworks using photographs as a subject/reference.
- Use collage papers to create mixed media artworks.
What else do I need to know?
Equipment Acrylic paint - Red, Blue, Yellow, Black and White. Paint brushes and pencils, Cartridge paper A3 + size Items that you have at home for making marks with paint. Examples - sponge, comb, plastic lid from milk carton or similar, toothpicks etc. plastic (old store) cards
