First Aid for Children and Babies

This first aid course will look at various aspects of first aid for babies and children. We will look at the role of the first aider. We will explore different first aid scenarios such as how to conduct a primary survey on a patient. We will take part in treating someone who is unresponsive; nose bleed; has minor burns; who is choking; if time permitting looking at different illnesses. This course in an introductory baby and child first aid course.(This course is for Southampton residents only)

Course aim

This course will cover first aid for baby and child and will look at the various techniques you can use to help people who have suffered an injury.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • I will be able to place a child or baby in the recovery position.
  • I will be able to help a child or baby suffering with a nose bleed.
  • I will be able to help a child or baby who is choking.
  • I will be able to help a child or baby with a burn.
  • I will be able to perform CPR on a baby or child.
