Course aim

This course will explore the relationship between Picturesque, Romantic and Victorian gardens and literature

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • you will be able to outline the history of English garden design
  • you will be able to describe the symbolism of the garden
  • you will recognise how the garden has influenced literary thought and language.
  • you will trace the philosophy behind garden design and be able to explain it
