A short course to find out how to support children's learning in fun ways. We will cover Learning Through Play, the National Curriculum, English, Maths and Social, Emotional and Behavioural Issues. We will also look briefly at other roles adults can have in school environments.
Course aim
To give people with an interest in working in a school, the background knowledge and confidence to become an effective helper in school, with ideas about how best to support children’s learning.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Identify 3 ways children can develop their learning through play.
- List 3 practical strategies to support children's development in literacy.
- List 3 practical strategies to support children's development in maths.
- List 3 practical strategies for encouraging children's social, emotional and behavioural development.
- Choose 3 personal targets or goals that they will work towards as a result of completing this course.
What else do I need to know?
- A selection of materials and basic equipment will be provided but you are welcome to bring additional materials with you
