This 2 session course will provide an introduction to the causes and impact of stress and anxiety on children and will introduce learners to a range of strategies to help children to overcome these challenges. Within CANVAS learners will be signposted to additional digital resources to develop their learning and meet their individual needs beyond the session.

Course aim

This course will help parents,guardians and care givers to identify suitable strategies to support children to manage stress and anxiety.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • I can explain the main mechanisms behind stress and anxiety responses.
  • I can identify strategies to help children tackle the unhelpful thinking patterns linked to their anxiety.
  • I can identify strategies to help children tackle the unpleasant bodily sensations linked to their anxiety.
  • I can identify strategies to help children tackle the unhelpful behaviour patterns linked to their anxiety.
