This beginners / improvers course is designed to help build confidence in your ability to use the fundamentals of Word. Developing digital skills and independence in using software, whilst thinking about returning to work.
Course aim
To develop your digital confidence. Also, to help you feel more capable in your ability to use Microsoft Word and the Internet for your work and home life. Using Microsoft Office 2010.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
- Please note: - You must have experience of using a mouse and keyboard and have an email address. Access to a computer using Microsoft Office to practice your skills outside of the lesson is necessary. JCP & libraries do have computers that you can use to practice (however-you may need to book).
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Learners will understand the main features of digital devices and their uses including computers, mobile phones, and tablets.
- Learners will be able to search and navigate information and content online using digital devices.
- Learners will understand processes and terminology used to enter and edit documents in Microsoft Word.
- Learners will recognise formatting in text includes bold, underline, italics, font sizes and colours, text alignment, bulleted and numbered lists.
- Learners will understand the terminology of online communication, including: • emailing • texting • messaging apps • video calls • contacts
What else do I need to know?
Please bring your email address and any passwords required to access your email account. Paper and pen. Glasses if required. A folder to keep your handouts and work in.
