An introduction to using counselling skills to enhance communication at work or in your personal life. This course will mainly focus on using a variety of counselling skills, but will also provide some examples of 3 of the main theories that underpin counselling. It is a good start for anyone thinking of training as a counsellor, progression after this course being to a Level 2 qualification. It would be useful to anyone working in a job or volunteer role that deals with the general public.

By the end of the course I should be able to:
- List the ten main counselling skills, what they mean and how they are used
- Use some of the ten main counselling skills in a practical way, either in class or outside of class
- Understand key aspects of the 3 main counselling theories and the history of counselling, Psychodynamic, Person-Centred and CBT.
- Self-reflect on own life experiences and the impact of these on values and beliefs

You will need: - an internet connection, speakers, microphone and webcam so that you can join the Zoom session - an email address to join Canvas and access handouts - a personal journal (or app) to record your progress
