This interactive and thought-provoking Philosophy short course explores, contextualises and illuminates a variety of quotations from different philosophers throughout the ages, encouraging you to think critically about them. A range of branches of philosophy will be included and fundamental philosophical terms and concepts explored.
Course aim
To elucidate, explore and critically discuss a variety of quotations (from different philosophers throughout the ages) and examine their philosophical contexts.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
- No prior knowledge is required, but a good grasp of English is essential
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Explain three philosophical quotations.
- Identify the philosophical contexts of three quotations.
- Identify the main criticisms of three of the philosophical theories covered.
- Think critically about two issues arising from the content of the course.
What else do I need to know?
You will need an internet connection, speakers, a microphone and a webcam so that you can use the WEA’s video learning platform, Zoom. You will also need a personal email address to join our digital learning platform, Canvas.
