The course will enable participants to understand the mandatory requirements of setting up a business. It will help them decide whether to work as a sole trader or limited company. They will learn why and how to do market research to find out what their customers need. They will understand the key components when writing a business plan, and understand the financial records which they must keep. Participants will also learn how to write a marketing plan and the support available to them as a new business owner.

Working in partnership with East Surrey College, this course is for people living in Reigate & Banstead, Mole Valley, Epsom & Ewell & Tandidge

Course aim

This course will provide participants with the knowledge of the requirements when setting up a business and becoming self employed.

  • This course is for beginners

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Explain the difference between a sole trader and limited company.
  • Write at least three questions for market research.
  • Identify the key components when writing a business plan.
  • Discuss a marketing plan for my business.
