This course will provide an overview of what counselling is including the role of a counsellor. It will also address the skills required including active listening. Participants will learn how to set ground rules, maintain boundaries and confidentiality. There will be an opportunity to examine difficult situations within the counselling relationships and ways in which these may be managed. The course is suitable as a first step for anyone wishing to work in counselling.
