This course will explore the theme of place and identity in fiction and creative non-fiction by spotlighting effective techniques used in published work. Through in-class writing exercises, feedback from peers and tutor and reading extracts outside of class learners will enhance their creative writing skills.
Course aim
This course will help learners improve their creative writing through the exploration of place and identity across works of fiction and creative non-fiction including travel writing.

- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Identify 4 creative writing techniques to incorporate into my writing
- Give and receive constructive feedback on peers' work
- Critique published works of fiction and creative non-fiction on place and identity to inspire own writing
- Use personal effects (photos, diaries, train tickets, maps) and/or research on place information/stories to shape my own writing
