Religion has played a highly important part in the lives of human beings. This Study Day is an introduction to two of the great religions of the world, Buddhism and Islam. It is an introduction to their origins and to their key text(s) and beliefs and some of their key practices. Lunch included with fee.

Course aim

An introduction to Buddhism and Islam: to their origins; and to their key text(s) and beliefs and some of their key practices.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • No prior specialist knowledge is required to attend this Study Day.

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Discuss the origins of two of the great religions of the world, Buddhism and Islam.
  • Discuss their key text(s) and beliefs and some of their key practices.

It is not necessary to do any reading for the Study Day. But, a reading list will be provided. The books on it may be referred to for the Study Day or they may be referred to in the future.
