Day School: Industrial Victorian Britain

Ref: C3747096

What was Victorian Industry? How did it work and what was it like to work within it? In the day school we will examine Britain's Victorian Industrial past. We will look at how Victorian industry flourished and why. We will examine what it was like to work in industry during the Victorian period and whether how industry has been portrayed in history and literature is really true. We will examine the role of the canals and railways in Victorian industry and what impact they had. Finally we will explore what working in the factories meant to people in the nineteenth century and we will look at whether what we think about how people were affected is really true and whether slums really were where all the working people had to live.
