Religion has played a highly important part in the lives of human beings. Judaism, Christianity, and Islam are three of the great religions of the world. This course is an introduction to some of the foundations of these great religions: to their origins and early historical development; to their key text(s) and beliefs and some of their key practices; and to their ethics.
Course aim
To provide an introduction to some of the foundations of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam: to their origins and early historical development; to their key text(s) and beliefs and some of their key practices; and to their ethics.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- No prior specialist knowledge is required to attend this course.
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- discuss the origins and early historical development of Judaism, Christianity, and Islam.
- discuss their key text(s).
- discuss their key beliefs and some of their key practices.
- discuss their ethics.
What else do I need to know?
It is not necessary to do any reading for the course. But, a reading list will be provided. The books on it may be referred to for the course or they may be referred to in the future.
