Day School: Drawing Animals with Soft Pastel

Experiment with chalk pastel techniques then create a pastel drawing of an animal in the afternoon.Students may bring their own photograph to make the final piece of work if they wish – if they have more than one of the same subject they should bring them all. Copying someone else’s painting or drawing is not recommended. Suitable for complete beginners and those wanting to extend their skills- no experience necessary. Basic materials and equipment provided- there will be a small charge towards the cost of paper .

Course aim

Experimenting with chalk pastel techniques and using these to produce a drawing of an animal.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • choose which colour paper to use to compliment the drawing
  • use mark making to copy textures
  • use proportion to place features on a head
  • Add own outcomes if wishes for more advanced students

Basic materials and equipment will be provided- there will be a small charge towards the cost of paper . Please wear an apron or old clothes and something to wipe your hands on : kitchen roll or baby wipes are good .
