Introduction to Music Production using Ableton

Would you like to learn how to make original music using professional production software? On this Electronic Music Production course, participants will learn how to produce music using Ableton Live professional software and have access to a huge selection of sounds, samples and software to produce high quality pieces of music.

Course aim

To engage learners & develop creative and musical skills with an understanding of the key elements of music. Develop learners' skills to a level where they can make original music confidently using Ableton Live software.

  • This course is for beginners

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Create, understand and utilise Audio and MIDI Tracks, Scenes and MIDI Clips
  • Connect a MIDI or others devices such as a keyboard, instruments and launchpads to play in notes, chords or drums as MIDI or Audio. Edit MIDI and Audio to understand quantizing and grooves
  • Access, understand and utilise browser functions with the software
  • Understand basic editing (e.g. move, copy, past, cut, split, consolidate etc.) within the arrangement and session views. Create and Edit Warp markers and Time stretch audio files.
  • Feel confident to use the software to produce music using audio and midi combined.

Ideally you will have access to a laptop or desktop computer so you can install the software and take part in the tutor-led activities during and in-between the lessons.
