Italian Advanced

This course is aimed at people who have an advanced knowledge of the Italian language and are keen to develop it further. The course will focus on oral, listening and speaking skills, but also reading and writing, so that the student will be able to communicate effectively in Italian. Being focused on communication skills, active participation during the classes will be encouraged. Each term topics covered earlier will be revised and new themes will be introduced to broaden the learners' understanding of the society and culture of contemporary Italy and to enhance their linguistic skills. Some knowledge of the Italian language is required. If you want to join the group this year and want to check your level, please ask the WEA to put you in contact with the tutor.

Course aim

In a friendly, comfortable and supportive atmosphere, this course will enable you to develop your language skills and will equip you with the confidence and the appropriate knowledge to understand and to communicate in Italian at an advanced level

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This is an advanced course for students with experience and skills in this subject
  • Being an ongoing course, past tenses, future tenses, condizionale, congiuntivo and discorso indiretto have been already covered. If you are joining the class this term, it will be useful to know all of these things. If you want to check your level, ask the WEA to put you in contact with the tutor

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Talk about part of Italian history
  • Talk about and discuss Italian news
  • Talk about some Italian Regions (art, music, traditions)
  • demonstrate an understanding of authentic written material in Italian
  • demonstrate an understanding of authentic spoken material in Italian
