Action Towards Inclusion: Relaxation for Wellbeing

This course will help you to learn how to relax through a variety of simple and easy to follow techniques. We will focus on using calming breathing techniques, gentle exercises and stretches that help to ease tension and stiffness in the body and guided deep relaxation practices. Be prepared to really make time for yourself, learn to truly relax in the comfort of your own home.

Course aim

This course will help you to learn how to truly relax improving both your physical and mental well being.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Explain how to focus on your breathing, learning to calm the mind.
  • Practise simple tense/ release exercises, learning to physically relax.
  • Practise gentle exercises and stretches that ease stiffness in the joints and back.
  • Demonstrate how to link your breath with simple movements, learning to focus and calm the mind.
  • Follow a guided deep relaxation, learning to truly relax your whole being.

What else do I need to know?

You will need something comfortable to lie on, If you don't have a yoga mat you can use a thick rug or blankets. You may need cushions/pillows and an extra blanket for the deep relaxation. We will sit on a dining/ kitchen chair for some seated stretches. Please wear loose, comfortable clothing.
