Festive Crochet

Ref: C3679859

In this course students will learn some of the basics of crochet, and will use these new skills to create gifts and decorations for Christmas. We will look at making hats, scarves and gloves as gifts, and decorations for the tree and the house, such as baubles, angels, candy canes, and maybe even a bit of bunting.

Course aim

To introduce students to crochet and create some gifts and decorations for Christmas

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for beginners and improvers
  • Some previous experience of crochet would be useful, but not essential as we will look at the basic stitches together

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate basic crochet stitches
  • Read a basic crochet pattern in order to make a hat, scarf or gloves
  • Demonstrate how to block and stiffen crochet items in order to maintain their shape
  • Create several different styles of Christmas decoration, including by using corkscrews, different shapes sewn together, and using lace stitches
