This friendly and accessible course offers beginnners and returners the chance to experiment, explore and understand the different approaches required when writing for various different genres. You may be looking for inspiration to get started or that extra motivation to develop and continue with an existing writing project, this course offers the chance to further your ideas and gain enthusiasm for creative writing in general. Dare to ‘break convention’ as we consider different styles and themes - and put theory into creative practice.
Course aim
To inspire, encourage and enable participants with creating writing in general but with a focus on exploring and understanding writing in different styles and genres.
Do I need any particular skills or experience?
- This course is for beginners and improvers
By the end of the course I should be able to:
- Express an understanding the form and structure of a story in relation to one of more of different styles/genres.
- Show confidence in one's abilities in commenting on and critiquing a story in relation to one of more creative styles and genres.
- Draw from one's own skills and experience in creating a stories of their own in accordance to one of more genre forms or styles covered.
- Display competence in the development of creative texts in general.
- Demonstrate motivation and enthusiasm for the subject area.
What else do I need to know?
