Arts and Crafts: Textile Collage

During this course students will learn how to choose a theme for a collage, select suitable fabrics, use hand stitching and other embellishments to decorate the collage and different ways the collage can be displayed.

Course aim

This course will give students an introduction to the techniques needed to create a textile collage.

  • This course is for beginners and improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Know what is meant by Textile Collage
  • Understand what basting means and how to do it
  • Be able to select a theme for a textile collage
  • Know how to use a variety of handstitches to embellish the collage
  • Plan how to prepare the collage for display

All materials will be supplied but students can bring their own fabrics and sewing tools if they wish.
