Next Steps in Calligraphy with Fiona Mitchell

This course will help you build on your calligraphy knowledge, with advanced techniques and working with a variety of materials; therefore is not suitable for complete beginners. We will be exploring a variation of styles and layouts. There will be a selection of short projects. Suitable for both right and left-handers. You will be expected to do work outside the class. You will be supported throughout this course by a tutor with more than 30 years’ experience.

Course aim

This course is ideal if you want to take your calligraphy to the next level using advanced techniques and intriguing projects.

Do I need any particular skills or experience?

  • This course is for improvers

By the end of the course I should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the uses and suitability of a variety materials for intermediate level calligraphy
  • Demonstrate the specific techniques and mark making skills for intermediate level calligraphy
  • Design and create layout for a specific short series of calligraphic work
  • Complete the finished piece of work from initial design through to completion
  • Discuss the development of the finished piece of work
